Internship at Sistie for 6 months

Sara and Sophie, both 23 years old, study 'Jewellery, technology, and business' at Copenhagen Business Academy (KEA). They have finished a 6-month internship at Sistie.

Why intern at Sistie?

Sara: The size of the business and the placement – ​​the fact that it is a business instead of a shop was also important to me. I wanted to learn something about branding strategies, promotion and social media. Besides that, the jewelery is also beautiful.

Sophie: I wanted to make jewellery, but also learn about marketing. Sistie has a design team in Denmark so I could also get close to the design process.

A day at Sistie

It has been busy at Sistie the last 5 months. Sara and Sophie have gotten to know many different types of tasks. You never quite know what the day will look like. It is all about having a lot on your plate and always being ready to adapt, but that is also what makes it exciting.

Sara: I have gotten a lot of responsibility and influence at Sistie, so I have really felt my work was appreciated and that I was acknowledged. It has been really nice.

Sophie: I sometimes got a little nervous in the beginning and felt I wasn't really grown up enough to make such big decisions. Sistie taught me to trust myself and trust that I know what I am doing.

Is it hard to do an internship?

The girls have also felt the pressure that sometimes occurs at Sistie. Even as an intern you become an integrated part of the work process and have deadlines that need to be met.

Sophie: I feel stressed when the others are stressed. You don't just have your own area; you are a part of everything.

Work tasks at Sistie

There are many different things to do and the interns get to be a part of everything. You don't just get coffee or take out cardboard boxes, you get to be a part of everything the employees also do.

Sara: It has been really mixed. Counting products, posting content on social media, taking photos, having events, designing jewellery. We have also made a Christmas calendar for Sistie. We have really been a part of everything, which has been awesome.

The surprising thing about internment

When interning it is not the school's picture-perfect version, but the real world you meet. In school everything is automated, technical and the process is flawless. In school there is a lot of structure, but in the real world you sometimes only have 5 minutes to make a decision and move on.

It is hard work to run a business and there are many things that need to be done that you don't always think about – at Sistie you get some insight into it all.

Interning at Sistie and plans for the future?

Sara: It has been very educational. It has been really great to see how they run the business and the whole process with the launch of Sistie.

The girls at Sistie become full of life after just one idea. It will be so weird that the two girls are not there anymore.

Sophie: It gives some really good insight into starting your own business. We have gotten a lot of knowledge about concrete things too, that can help us a lot in our future.

The girls would like to start their own jewelery brand someday. The internship at Sistie was a really good stepping stone for the two girls, who will miss their time here.
